For a long time this proud rooster had to wait for me to paint him a worthy portrait. He ran in front of my camera a few years ago during a vacation on Jersey.

When I started this painting, I had no idea how much the look of the dog would match what was happening in my life during the painting process. It was the title, which revealed itself almost with the last strokes as if by itself, which showed me once again how much art and life are interwoven.

This is the fourth commission for the same customer

Some things take time. I started with the sketch for this paining in 2012. Last week it finally made it to the easel. And now this is “Rusty”. Available also as art print and greeting card in the online-shop.

My latest painting is dedicated to Mel. Because he was there, when the photo for this paining was taken. And because he is no longer here.

A few days ago I was contacted by the life partner of a woman who had received a painting of me as a gift eleven years ago. In the internet he found my website and as fan of the dog breed Airdale he fell in love with my picture “Airdale-Skizze II”. And so, also this picture finds its owner. Beautiful, how life sometimes plays …

I’m exploring new horizons at the moment – symbolicly but also literally spoken: There are two new paintings in the horizon series – a smaller and a larger version of the same subject in a slightly different technique. You’ll find them in the landscape gallery.

Thanks to the request of this commissioner I accepted the challenge for a somewhat unusual sujet.
